A speedometer that shows your speed in large type, counts the distance and asks nothing of you.

Tacho came out of a simple observation: anyone on a bike, in a boat or in the passenger seat who wants to know their current speed is handed a map, an account and a request for a review by most apps. This one shows a number.
The speed comes from the iPhone's satellite positioning, not from the vehicle. In tunnels, between tall buildings and with poor reception it can deviate, so it does not replace the vehicle speedometer.
C.1.1What it does
- Three units at once
- Kilometres per hour, knots and miles per hour sit side by side. You decide which one is large in the middle, and units you never use can be hidden.
- Distance in legs
- Split the distance you cover while you travel and give each leg a name. Afterwards it stays readable which part of the trip was how long.
- Built for long trips
- Location accuracy follows your speed instead of running at full load all the time. The screen stays awake on request so the reading remains visible.
- No network
- The app has no network access. It works in airplane mode, in a tunnel and at sea just as it does in town, as long as satellite reception holds.
C.1.2Data
The app collects no data.
Your location is processed on the iPhone alone, to work out speed and distance. It is neither transmitted nor stored; all that stays on the device is the accumulated distance in the app's own settings. There are no analytics services, no ad networks and no network access.
