Privacy in the Tacho app

In short

Tacho collects no personal data. The app has no network access, sends nothing to us and nothing to third parties. Everything it calculates stays on your iPhone.

Location data

The app uses the iPhone's location services to calculate speed and distance travelled. This processing happens exclusively on the device. Positions are not transmitted, not logged and not stored as a route. All that remains is the accumulated length of the legs you created yourself.

You grant access in the iOS settings and can withdraw it there at any time. Without access the app shows no speed; no other disadvantage follows from that.

What is stored on the device

• Your settings, such as the units shown and the energy mode.
• The names and lengths of the legs of your trip.

Both live in the app's protected storage on your device. Neither is mirrored to a cloud service and neither is visible to us. Deleting the app removes them completely.

No sharing, no tracking

The app contains no analytics services, no ad networks, no third-party crash reporting and no code that would open a network connection. There is no tracking within the meaning of Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, and no advertising identifier is used.

Purchase through the App Store

Apple handles the purchase of the app. In doing so Apple processes your payment and account data as its own controller; we receive only aggregated sales figures from Apple with no link to individuals. Apple's privacy policy applies to that part.

Legal basis

Because the app transmits no personal data to us, no processing by us takes place within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation. If you write to us by email, we process your details under Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR in order to answer your enquiry, and delete them once they are no longer needed.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. For everything else, please use the address above.

Changes

If the app changes in a way that makes this policy inaccurate, the policy is updated before the new version is published. The date in the margin shows when that last happened.
